The new Rolf Benz 670 chair has been designed by Georg Appeltshauser. For the first time the model has been presented at IMM Cologne 2008.

The ingenious comfort mechanism adapts to individual seating requirements, irrespective of whether the user wants to sit ergonomically correctly and upright or would prefer to lean back and relax.

Drop is a decorative tile in �soft concrete�, designed by Jenny Oldsjoe and Ragnar Hultgren. It comes in several different shapes. The basic tile is a rhomb with a concave drop, hence the name Drop. It is 8 mm thick. There is a sister tile in the same size with a plane surface and various other complementary tiles.

Offecct is launching new Amazonas tables by Eero Koivisto in the spring of 2008. The Amazonas table series originated when Eero Koivisto saw aerial photographs of the rain forest where the tree crowns created a dense ceiling � many parts forming a whole. He immediately wanted to create a table with the same effect, or, rather, he wanted to create several such tables that could be combined to form a cluster.

Jean-Marie Massaud has designed the Heaven series for the Italian company EMU. The series outdoor furniture has been presented at the IMM Cologne 2008. According to him, it is �a manifesto of elegance, mid-way between glamour and timeless sensuality. The airy silhouettes of the chairs, armchairs, tables and vases stage the privileges of open-air life with refinement. They do not neglect requisites of comfort, stackability and resistance that, to my mind, are a fundamental must�, explains Massaud.

Tom Price presented his Cast Lights at IMM Cologne 2008 in the section [d3] design talents. These sculptural lighting pieces are made from solidified light. A small light bulb was placed in a 3D scanning device. When switched on, the scanner was able to detect a halo of light emanating from the bulb and created a three dimensional solid model of the surface of the glow. The computer models were then built in nylon using rapid manufacturing technology (SLS).

Big Knot is a sitting object made of a single 80-meters long rope. It is 100% handmade. Two ropemaker craftsmen masters, 12 hours of work and much lifeblood are necessary for each piece. Alias is going to present its new Legnomobile series at Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2008. The series consists of three containers: a medium wardrobe, a small wardrobe and a chest of drawers in shades of white, acid green and wenge wood with polished feet. Each of them is made up of two elements that �rest� on a type of bench. The new furnishings feature the formal language of the Legnoletto collection, which outstrips the conventional concept of the bed. Instead they introduce a modular system where each element can be dismantled and interchanged. Design: Alfredo Haberli.

Raphael von Allmen presented his Chair at IMM Cologne 2008 and won the first prize in the section [d3] design talents. The chair consists of a flexible backrest formed using a cut-out sheet of grooved, strengthened polypropylene to guarantee stability. The feet made of aluminium profiles are stiff and light. The seat is also made out of an aluminium sheet. The shape of the back and the stiffness of the feet make the chair very comfortable.

Sophie is extra-light, elegant and resistant. For the moment it is available in black and purple. The first line is limited edition. The chair is a part from the new Fiber Collection, which is on the European market, started from February 2008.
