This house by friman.laaksonen architects is located close to the centre of the old iron-works community of Fiskars, which has lately become a centre for culture. The wooden monolithic building can be seen as a typical peasant house split lengthways. The spruce-clad facade is unostentatious, whereas the tall-galvanized corrugated-steel clad facade is punctuated with large, freely placed windows, their placement determined by the requirements of the interior spaces. The living spaces are divided into three multipurpose sections: two larger rooms and a volume between them comprised of auxiliary spaces and a loft.▪
South, there’s an open expanse to the field, on the West side is a courtyard delimited by outbuildings and the east side overlooks a lake via a densely forested slope.
